How to connect a LED tape

New types of LED luminaires in the form of flexible tapes are becoming increasingly popular. Installation of devices is easy, it is enough to explore the rules for handling products.

General recommendations

When connecting LED tapes, follow our advice:

  1. Ribbon cut only on the lines marked on the strip. Depending on the density of the diodes, the marks are in 5-10 cm.
  2. Connect the sections of the LED tapes taking into account the polarity ("plus" or "minus").
  3. Perform a soldering at the maximum temperature of 260 degrees, the duration of heating is not more than 10 seconds.
  4. Luminaires operate from 12 V power supplies, 24 V DC.
  5. Blocks designed to work outside the room should be moisture-proof.
  6. The ribbon is mounted to the surface with the help of self-adhesive coating, so it should be dry, clean and low-fat. When sticking, do not press the diodes.
  7. The tape can be bending with a radius not more than 2 cm. In the area of \u200b\u200bthe circuit board, on which there are no electronic elements, radius can be reduced.
  8. The maximum length of the tape is 5 m. If you need a high-length illumination, add additional sectors parallel.
  9. High-quality ribbons work up to 50,000 hours, at temperatures from -40 to +50 degrees.
  10. The power unit must have a rated power by 10-15% more than the total power consumption of the strip.
  11. The power source is equipped with network terminals or free wires. By default, plus (+) is connected to the red wire, black (blue) - minus (-).

Connecting a monochrome LED tape

To build a lamp with single-color diodes, purchase a power supply and a typical five-meter LED tape. Fix the ribbon to the wires from the output terminal power terminals. The connection is performed by soldering or using a special device - connector. The first way is more reliable, the second is faster. Connect the power unit to the network - this is completed on this process.

If a large length lamp is needed, do not connect the sequentially several five-meter tapes. The farther diodes from the power supply, the fact that the brightness of the glow is lower. There is a need for a powerful power source. But the long current heats the LEDs, and the elevated temperature displays them before the laid. In order not to faults, the ribbons are connected in parallel using additional wires with a cross section of more than 1 mm. It is allowed to use several low-power power supplies.

Connecting color LED tape

In such an electrocups, in addition to the previously listed components, there must be a controller responsible for the color and brightness of diodes.
Connect to the output contacts of the power supply of the controller wire according to the polarity ("plus" and minus "). Connect the lamp to the controller also taking into account the polarity of the terminals. The diagram below shows that 4 outputs stretched from the controller. Three control the colors, one - the wire feed.

With the length of the tape more than 5 m, use a product with powerful LEDs (SMD-5050), which consumes high current. To do this, you need a powerful power supply and controller withsting high current. In order for the lamp to work steadily, the RGB signal amplifier and two power sources are connected to the chain - one for the controller, the other for RGB amplifier. The second tape is connected to the amplifier, then to the first element. The amplifier retains the color management synchronism and ensures the intensity of burning.

The lamp on diodes can be installed anywhere for different purposes, but the rules for the assembly of electrocups for all cases are the same. In order for the lamp for a long time and flawlessly, adhere to the generally accepted requirements for the installation of the device.
