How to connect a computer to the local network

With the development of technologies, the availability of a home local network in each house is not surprising. In the office, the existence of the LAN simplifies life and accelerate the exchange of data, there is no need to transfer information through flash drives, discs, or even worse - ancient floppy disks. The first thing to be done is to make sure that the computer / laptop network card and installed drivers are performed. If there is no network, then buy and install, but recently computers without a network card are ever less common.

Another important item required for the local network is a switch (switch) and a network cable itself. Instead of a switcher, you can use a Wi-Fi router. But the number of ports will be limited, and as a bonus you will also receive access to the Internet.

Connect the network cable to the switch and the computer network card. Turn on the computer and switch. OS will boot, about the same time, the switch-router blinks light bulbs, and you can proceed to the settings of the network parameters.

When using a switch, go to "Control Panel" - "View network status and tasks", on the left, click "Changing the Adapter Settings", then on the Network Map Candle "PCM" and "Properties".

In "Properties", configure the computer's IP address. Internet Protocol version 4 - Properties. Enter the IP address in the format "192.168.yyy.xxx". Click on the network mask once, it will be installed automatically. Note that the last two blocks of numbers and network mask must match the addresses of the network to which you connect. For example, if the network "192.168.1.ХХХ", then a single subnet number, and xxx - any number from 1 to 254. After the setup, click "OK".

Now install the Working Group, it is necessary to display your computer in the appropriate group. In the office, for example, in the "Accounting group" there will be workers' cars only from the "Accounting" department. Go to the "My Computer" properties - "Change Parameters". In the properties of the system, click "Change" to attach the computer to the Working Group. Enter the computer name and workgroup. Click "OK" and reboot to entry into force changes.

Another connection option is wireless. This method is only suitable if there is a Wi-Fi router. To do this, you will need a Wi-Fi adapter (for installation inside or USB) and Wi-Fi router. Connect the adapter. The system automatically recognizes it, installs drivers for it or ask to insert drivers with drivers. In the system tray, a wireless web icon appears next to the clock. Click on it, the list available for connecting networks will appear. Find your own and connect. In this case, it is enough just to install a home group, the IP address will be assigned automatically.
