We check the tested mechanism on the path passing by the steering wheel until the wheels start rotating, the so-called backlash. Fix the caliper in the upper state of the steering wheel in the suspended state. On the steering wheel, we make a label for yourself, then move the caliper on it by the beginning of the reference. The steering mechanism is unscrewed to the lower state of the backlash. Next, first we are dragging the measuring shoulder, then set it to the label made earlier. Admissible is the backlash to 35 mm. Excess this parameter means the need for steering.

Customize the play of the steering mechanism, for which on the steering shaft we enhance the cardan hinges. Build an adjusting screw of the hinges, exposing the backlash within the norm, thanks to the adjustment of the screws of the effort.

We produce a complete turn of the steering wheel by fixing the dynamometer on it. By the meaning of the measuring device, steering, in the presence of a hydraulic device, should not exceed 5 kg. And it is worth examining the documents on the car, because the model and brand of the car determine the possible oscillation of the value of the mechanical steering from 6 to 10 kg.

Using the same dynamometer, check and, if necessary, adjust the force attached to the rotation of the steering wheel. If there is a hydraulic device, before testing we start the car and warming it up 8 minutes so that the hydrolysis temperature rose to the necessary to work.

On the steering traction, we establish ball hinges, if the indicators exceed the norm. The machine for this purpose is driving onto the overpass or failing lift to provide access from below. Tighten the fasteners and steering thrust if the hinges are "thinned". Dynamometer check the damper of the steering column. An applied force is allowed to five kilograms.
