How to round the number in Excel

The Excel software package offers the user a lot of essential tools for quick and efficient operating data. One such feature is the function setting function, with its rounding to the whole. There are several different conversion methods that we describe below.

How to round down the number in Excel - Changing the number of semicolons

The electronic tables under consideration allow you to flexibly configure the number of numbers, indicating how many digits after the comma leave. This feature can be used to round the number in some cases. It should be remembered that the number is actually not rounded - only its display on the screen changes. If this is enough, we use the formatting of the cells:

  • we open the table, we enter into it numbers;
  • select cells, the numbers in which we want to roundate (to highlight several CTRL hold);
  • click the right mouse button on any dedicated place;
  • from the context menu, select the item "Format Cells";
  • a new window will appear;
  • on the "Numbers" tab, the section "Category", select "NUBMER";
  • in the field "Decimal Places" write the number of placles after the semicolon, to which we wish to round;
  • if you need to round up to the whole - we leave the value 0 in the field;
  • click "OK", formatting produced.

How to round the number in Excel formula in a separate cell

To preserve the result before and after rounding, you can use formulas. For this:

  • click on the cell to which you want to place the final result;
  • install the cursor in the FX string (or click on the Sign);
  • type \u003d Round (or "rounded" without quotes, for a Russian-language version);
  • open the bracket, specify the address of the cell, the value of which must be rounded;
  • in the same place: We recruit a sign; and the number of decimal characters that must be left;
  • for example: formula \u003d rounded (B5; 1) means that the number from the B5 cell is rounded to 1 mark after the comma;
  • common Formulas Top or Rounddown (RoundUp \\ RoundDown) rounded the number in a large or smaller side.

There are some other useful functions that will be useful in special situations. It is worthwhile that rounding with their help can significantly affect the accuracy of the calculations, so they need to be used with maximum care:

  • Even - performs rounding to the nearest even number;
  • Nothing - to odd;
  • DistrictLT - rounding to multiple negative or fractional;
  • Otbr - discarded the fractional part, leaving a whole.
