Decoupage of New Year's balls using colorful napkins - step-by-step instruction

If you decide to use the finished Christmas ball as the basis, it is necessary to preliminarily prepare the product.

  • Remove the metal ball fastening - a hat and "mustache".
  • Next, the workpiece should be sanded. To do this, take a piece of sandpaper and grind the surface of the ball to make it as smooth as possible.
  • Fragments of the remaining paint can be removed using a liquid to remove varnish. So you also degrease the working surface.

If a ready-made workpiece from the store acts as the basis, the steps described above are skipped.

  • Next, start the blasting ball. Connect PVA glue with a small amount of water. Take the brush and apply the prepared composition on the surface of the workpiece. After drying the composition, the emery passes again.
  • Now take a sponge and dip it into acrylic paint. Color the ball, gradually working out its entire surface. For more comfortable work, the toy can be placed on the needle or a wooden skeleton. After the first layer is dry, apply the paint again. In no case do not use a solvent or acetone on the basis.

  • Take the selected motif and carefully remove the top layer of the napkins (on which the image itself is actually). Next, over the contour, we break the desired fragment. Why it is important to pull out, and not cut a fragment? Ripped edge, which result in it will be easier to "hide" and the transition between the motif and the rest of the ball will be imparable. Place the prepared picture on the basis (workpiece).
  • Connect water and PVA glue in the ratio of 1: 1. Alternatively, you can use ready-made glue for decoupage.
  • Welcome in the adhesive with a soft movement in the direction from the center of motive to the edges work in the entire surface of the picture. It is necessary to work as accurately as possible, since the napkin is thin and when turning can be easy to break.

  • Wait for glue dry. Now take sandpaper № 0 and slightly walk through the roughness of the toys. Do not be discouraged if you have a little damage the drawing. So your decoration will have a more aged, vintage look.
  • The design of the boundaries of the picture is completely dependent on your desires and fantasies. You can gently glue it with acrylic paint the base (to hide) or on the contrary - to emphasize the motive by creating an outline of a sparkler or paint contrasting.
  • When the design is completed, cover the entire surface of the ball in 2-3 layers of glossy varnish. Do not forget that after each stage, the work surface must be completely dry.
  • Insert the hats and make a ribbon in them.
