What parquet board is better than laminate

Today, parquet board and laminate are considered the most relevant flooring - visually they are quite similar, but in structure and qualitative characteristics differ significantly. Among the consumers there is an opinion that the parquet board is better than laminate. To make sure that the rationality of this statement, let's compare the main operational features of both materials.

1
By virtue of the natural origin of all component components, a parquet board is absolutely natural and eco-friendly flooring. In fact, it is a three-layer "Pie" from natural wood:

  • the upper (decorative) layer is made of wood of valuable rocks (nut, oak, beech, ash);
  • the average consists of a perpendicular to the facial layer of narrow slats from coniferous rocks or rubber wood;
  • for the bottom layer it is used solid firing or pine plywood.

2
Laminate is an artificial multilayer coating of crudged materials:

  • to create the facial layer, a special furniture foil is used or a synthetic film (melamine or acrylic);
  • the next (decorative) layer is made of high-strength cardboard with a pattern that imitates the texture of wood, stone or ceramic tile;
  • as the main (carrier) layer, wood-fibrous plates (Fiberboard) of high density are applied;
  • the lower (stabilizing) layer is made from kraft paper impregnated with polymeric resins, or thin plastic.

3
Wear resistance. High-quality high-class laminate is considered to be more resistant to mechanical damage - it will not damage it with a squeeze sand, nor a sharp heel or a furniture leg. Owners of pets worth paying attention to this cover. A parquet board is characterized by less mechanical strength and requires a more careful relationship. To avoid plowing parquet in points of point voltage, protective plastic plugs on the legs of a heavy furniture, and under the base of bulky items put substrates from felt or felt.

4
Maintainability. Damaged areas of laminate are not subject to partial restoration - they can only be replaced by new ones, while to dismantle a defective fragment will have to disassemble the coating, and this is a rather complicated and time-consuming process. With parquet everything is much simpler - it is subject to local repairs, and complete reconstruction.

5
Durability. With the proper compliance with the laying technology, the life of both materials is approximately the same - about 10-12 years. However, with the final choice of flooring, consider that after the specified time, the laminate will have to be completely replaced, and the parquet coating can be restored by cyclishing. After fluttering, with the subsequent update of the protective layer, the parquet floor will look like a new one.

6
Heat and noise insulation. According to these indicators, the parquet board wins - due to its structure and thickness, it is excellent sound insulation qualities and is well kept warm. Laminate is considered to be covered with noisy and "cold". Parquet can be laid directly on the prepared concrete base or old linoleum (the main thing is that the floor is without significant drops), a special soundproofing substrate and a "warm floor" system or other thermal insulation must be installed under the laminated coating.

7
Installation. Thanks to comfortable lock connections, both materials are quite simple in laying - it takes a minimum of time and can be performed both with professionals and independently. The only difference is that laminate requires a more costly and time-consuming pre-assembly preparation of the foundation.

8
Price. As a rule, parquet coating costs more than laminated, since it is made of natural wood. However, the budgetary samples of the parquet board and the laminate of the high class of operation are almost identical.

9
Features of care. High-quality laminated coating perfectly transfers wet cleaning without the use of abrasive and chemicals. A parquet board in this regard is more capricious - like any tree, it does not tolerate excessive humidity, therefore needs more careful care (special compositions are used to purify the parquet surface). Take into account that low-quality laminate is characterized by high electrostaticity, so such a coating is quickly covered with sorts, dust and a pile.

10
Appointment of the room and the orientation to the interior. In rooms with high patency (hallways, kitchens, corridors and living rooms) it is better to lay a laminated coating. A parquet board is ideal for bedrooms, children's rooms, libraries and work offices. An exquisite natural coating will benefitly emphasize the solid "classic" interior, laminate - a great solution in the framework of modern budget repairs.

We have more than five years (!) Lies parquet in the hall and bedrooms. I am satisfied with everything 100%. If you live in a country house, it is better to choose a parquet, because It is more durable and resistant to moisture. We are quite a lot of people in the family - 2 adults and 4 children (total 6 people). Plus with us has lived a dog. So that the floor is used very, very intense, I can tell you! The appearance is still preserved a decent ... not as new, of course, but it looks to the present day with dignity. Scratches appear, but not very big. If you do not look closely, it is almost not noticeable. Everything else is fine. Parquet board - not the cheap stuff, we even had to take a loan for repairs, but it will serve you for a longer period. If the material is to buy an apartment and larger animals have not, and the laminate can be used safely (but not in the kitchen area! There may best to lay the tiles, because a high probability of moisture).
