To fill out legally significant documents, all passport data is required, including the division code. It consists of six digits separated by a hyphen, and carries information about the location and structural unit in which you received a passport. This data is necessary to determine the authenticity of a document certifying the person. In this article we will tell you how and where you can find out the unit code.
How the code is decrypted
In the first two-digit number, the location of the division in the country is encrypted in the code. For example:
- 78 - St. Petersburg, 50 - Moscow region.
- The following digit informs about the level of subordination (0 - UFMS; 1 - GUVD, Ministry of Internal Affairs, ATC; 2 - urban or district branch.
- 3 - urban or rural division).
- The number after hyphen is individually for each unit. So, if the "division code" line shows the numbers 007-612, the document will be considered not valid due to the inconsistency of the cipher of the subject, the level of subordination and information on a particular unit.
Where in the passport recorded the code of the division
If you have a passport at hand, you will not find out the necessary information. The code of the unit can be found on the second page either in the fourth line after the date of issue, or on printing, put down at the bottom of the page. The code can also be on the pages with registration at the place of residence, marriage, children, as well as on the page, where information about previously issued passports is indicated.
If there are no passports
In case, for some reason, you currently have no passport, and the code of the unit must be learned, then such ways can be tried:
- Find a photocopy, scanned image or photo of passport.
- Ask information from your loved ones or neighbors that were registered in the same department. The code of the division is the same for everyone who issued a passport the same unit.
- Contact the office that issued you a passport personally or by phone. The address and phone number can be found via the Internet by driven by the name of the unit in the search string.
As can be seen from the article, options to find out the code of the unit is sufficient, and they all differ in their simplicity. The choice of method depends in many respects about the circumstances and urgency of the situation.
