How to make Volan?

A variety of stakers gave the world of fashion many different styles of sleeves, skirts, blouses and planes. Almost every woman in the closet has some kind of clothing with waxes. But what to do if you want to learn how to sew them with your own hands? This is not just a strip of fabric, creating a stake is a whole art. To master them, they need to know the secrets of calculating the patterns and be able to sew howl correctly.

Method of cutting strokes "Bubble"

It should be clarified what is the "Volan". Volan is a segment of fabric, one edge of which goes in waves and the other is even. It is thanks to the special opening that the fabric can lie down with these attractive wave -like bends. Obviously, for this, the pattern should be spiral, but in fact it is not a prerequisite.

The method of cutting a “bagel” is in a circle that is cut out of fabric. After part of it is cut and the strip of fabric is straightened, one edge will be wound. But how to calculate the size of this "ring" of fabric?

  1. Take a product that the oxen is going to sew on. It can be a dress whose neck is planned to decorate with a wave -like cut of fabric. The first thing that is recognized in this case is the width of Volan. This width is the difference between the internal and external radii of the planned “ring” of the future pattern.
  2. The second variable that is needed is the length of the sewing line. It is directly related to the inner circle of the "ring". On the dress, the sewing line will be a line of the edge of the neck.
  3. They took 60 cm for the length of the sewing, and the width is taken arbitrary. It is recommended to take into account the allowances for future seams in advance. It remains to draw a circle with a length of 60 cm. But what length for this you need to push the legs of the circul? To do this, calculate the radius, dividing the length of the circumference by the number 6.28, equal to the number of pi multiplied by 2. The radius is 9.5 cm.
  4. It was the turn of the external circle. If the width of the future Volan is already known, then the radius of the new circle is obtained by adding its value to the first radius. If they plan to sew two stucks with the same width of sewing, then the second oxen will have the same radius as the first. All the difference will be in the second radius. It is increased as much as necessary for the second Volan to be visible from under the first.
  5. The disadvantage of this method is that after cutting the circle of fabric remains, undifferently. It is quite possible to avoid such a huge overrun of the material. To do this, they are advised to divide the “ring” into two parts and transfer the halves of the patterns to the fabric alternately.

Method of cutting strokes "Spiral"

The peculiarity of this reverse is that throughout the way its wavyness will be different. Such oxen are suitable for creating an asymmetric pattern on a skirt or blouse, for decorating and other fashionable solutions.
In addition, a similar method allows you not to waste the fabric and draw a stake in any length.

  1. Choose the width of the future Volan. On the cross, points are noted from the center by 3 cm. For this, 3 lines are drawn: one longitudinal and two transverse ones. The necessary points will be marked on them. Then the desired width - 4 cm - is put off on all sides of the cross at least 2 times.
  2. It is the points on all the crossbars of the crosses that will help to navigate when the line reaches the drawing of Volan. At this stage, it is checked that the distance between the points is the same - this is necessary for the symmetry of Volan.
Then they begin to draw a cross at points. It is recommended to start from the lower point on the cross and gradually complete the circle. Each new turn must defend from his predecessor to the width of the future wolon.
  3. The wavyness of Volan largely depends on the length of the circumference. Volan, cut by the type of "snail", each new round has the size of a circle superior to the size of the previous one. Because of this, part of the ox, which is closer to the center, will have the greatest wave.
  4. They finish drawing the Volan as well as they started - at the bottom of the cross. It remains to find out how the length of the “snails” is calculated. This can be done according to the mathematical formula, but skilled seamstresses prefer to do without risk to make a mistake in the calculations. To calculate the length of the oxen, they use an ordinary thread.
  5. To do this, they first are determined with the desired length of the stake, oriented by the product where they are going to sew it. Then they select a successful width of the oxen, draw a cross, arrange points and begin to draw a oxide. Having “wound up” a certain number of turns, they take and cut off the thread of the same length as the future Volan. This thread is laid out along the inner end of the spiral of the future flood. If the oxide ends earlier than the thread, then you need to draw more a round of spirals. If the thread is entirely placed in the figure, then you can stop drawing.
  6. The place on the pattern where the thread ended is noted - this will be the end of Volan. After that, the pattern is transferred to the fabric and the oxen is cut out. The remaining piece of fabric will be very tiny and in shape is similar to a comma.

There is nothing complicated in the pattern of Volan if it is firmly represented by what it will be and for what purposes it is necessary. In addition to the size and length of Volan, experienced craftswomen are able to regulate its wavyness and are able to decorate them with any detail of the wardrobe.
