How to renovate bath

If the old bath sweat and crackled, it can be replaced with a new one, or renovated. The new product will delight modern design and shining glitter. But count how much the dismantling of an old bath will cost, takeaway it from the apartment, buying new, delivery to the floor, plumbing services for installation and connection. If you do not plan to overhaul, at which you are ready to spend big money, then you should not buy a new plumbing. Now we will tell you how to renovate a used bath to it become like new.

1
Restoration methods exist only three:

  • filling with liquid acrylic;
  • paint enamel;
  • installing a separate liner.

2
The most progressive method is the processing of the bath in bulk acrylic. His advantages:

  • the durability of the coating is up to 10-12 years;
  • strong glossy coating - due to density and good yielding acrylic fills all irregularities;
  • easy to work - acrylic just pours on the bath;
  • lack of chemical smell.

This method has disadvantages:

  • high value of material;
  • the substance will dry for a long time - at least 3 days;
  • requires a preliminary dismantling of "plum-overflow".

3
The following method is self-enamel. Specialized enamel is simply applied with a brush or roller. The advantages of this method:

  • the lowest cost;
  • enamel can be painted both cast iron and metal baths;
  • does not require a dismantling of the system "Drain-overflow" - they can be sealed with a painting ribbon;

The disadvantages of enameling are:

  • life of only 5 years;
  • requires careful cleaning, since enamel is very fragile;
  • the substance does not align dents and former chips on the bathroom;
  • over time, enamel made not in the factory conditions, yellow.

4
In the old bath you can insert an acrylic liner that will completely repeat its contours. It is mounted on a special installation foam. What is good this method:

  • the service life reaches 15 years;
  • coating strength, because the liner was manufactured in factory conditions;
  • fully hid the defects of the old bath (dents, cracks, scratches);
  • over time, the acrylic liner does not shine.

Not without drawbacks:

  • mandatory removal of the drain siphon before installing the liner;
  • the method is not applicable if the old bath was made of the so-called "light cast iron", which will be fed under water weight, thereby destroying the one-piece design of the installation foam.

Choosing one or another method of restoration, it is worth remembering that the old bath must be carefully cleaned and dried. Only on a clean degreased surface is good in bulk acrylic, enamel or reliably, mounting foam.
