New Year's holidays in 2017 begin on December 31, which in other years is often workers. Why? Because it falls on Saturday. So, all New Year's holidays:
- December 31, 2016. Saturday is a generally accepted day off.
- January 1, 2017. Sunday is also a generally accepted day off, but in addition and a generally accepted festive day. Due to the fact that these two weekends coincide, the festive on January 1 is postponed on January 6.
- January 2, 2017. Monday - a festive day.
- January 3, 2017. Tuesday - a festive day.
- January 4, 2017. Wednesday - festive day.
- January 5, 2017. Thursday - a festive day.
- January 6, 2017. Friday - Festive Day for January 1. This day is called the "Christmas Eve", which is celebrated before Orthodox Christmas.
- January 7, 2017. Saturday is a generally accepted day off, but in addition and the generally accepted festive day "Christmas of Christ". In theory, due to the coincidence of two weekends, the festive on January 7 would be going to move Monday on January 9, but the Ministry of Internal Assocatrud decided not to do this in 2017.
- January 8, 2017. Sunday is a generally accepted day off.

How to rest on New Year's holidays in 2017 - State Duma Deputies Initiative
Some Russian deputies believe that long-lasting New Year holidays adversely affect people's health (too much they fell into the nurses and eat drinks) and that the country's economy suffers from long downtime. In this regard, the Duma considers the bill, which may approve of only one official holiday (January 1). In return, people are going to give extra 10 days of paid vacation. These days can be taken at any convenient time or add them to the main holiday. If this law is adopted, it will come into force on January 1, 2017. But so far, the deputies are working on this innovation, Russian citizens are already planning their nine-day New Year holidays.
