The bank card is a convenient calculation tool, you can use when paying both in real and online stores. In the latter case, to confirm the payment it is necessary to enter the number of bank plastic, its validity period, as well as a certain CVC2 (or CVV) cipher. What does he represent and where to find this numerical combination?
What is CVC2 combination?
The cipher of interest is a kind of identifier of your card as part of the payment system to which plastic belongs. So:
- CVV (or CVV2) cipher is decrypted as Card Verification Value. This identification code is present for the VISA calculated plastic.
- The CVC (or CVC2) sequence is the Card Validation Code abbreviation. Check code for bank plastic MasterCard payment system.
- Miraccept code - this sequence is created for safe conduct of various transactions using the WORLD banking plastic.
- American Express Card Card Identifier is indicated as CID.
The CVV sequence includes 3 (less often 4 - CID cipher) numbers and is a plastic verifier. Data Digital sequence is usually separated from other card numbers.
Separately, it is worth highlighting Maestro cards. The bank plastic of the old sample of this calculation system is distinguished by the absence of cipher identifier. About lime online payment using this type of plastic (if you want to specify the CVC or CVV code) fails. The only way out is the design of another card, incl. Virtual. With these new maps of this system already have a verification cipher. It is possible to find it on the back of the map, followed by the signature unit.
Where to find the CVC2 sequence?
CVC2 cipher value found out, the question remains where to find this code.
- In the overwhelming majority of cases, the desired sequence of numbers is applied by a mansion on the back of the bank card. The combination is prescribed in a separate field, below the magnetic strip. In this case, not only CVC2 numbers can be indicated in this field. For this reason, the client is only interested in the last 3 digits of the specified numeric sequence.
- In some cases (for example, on Alfa-Bank virtual maps, as well as on American Express cards), the identifier cipher can be applied on the front side of the plastic, next to other details of the map. In this case, the necessary information will be highlighted as "CVC2: XXX", where XXX is the necessary three-digit code.
- There is also a category of cards that have CVC2 code, but at the same time the cipher is not applied to bank plastic. In this case, this cipher is communicated to the client when issuing a map. It (like a PIN code) should be remembered or recorded in a safe place. If you have forgotten this sequence - contact the bank and find out if it is possible to somehow find out the necessary information.
CVC2 code is not in vain is called verification. Even if the scammers learn the number of your banking plastic, as well as your name and name, then without checking code, you will not be able to pay any online purchase (make a translation) from your card.
In no case do not confuse the CVC2 code (CVV2 or CID) with the PIN code of your card. The latter must be entered when conducting a transaction through a terminal or an ATM, while CVC2 cipher is required when conducting online payments.
Be careful, do not inform anyone CVC2 your card data!
