How to connect printer to two computers

The situation when the printer is one, and there are many computers, rather common. It may be at home and in the office, and in the student hostel. After all, you have a separate computer - this is normal, and buy several printers for nearby PCs is impractical. Moreover, you can connect all computers to one printer immediately and print on it in turn. Consider what you need to do this, on the example of combining two computers and one printing device.

1
To begin, it is necessary to synchronize computers with each other to which the printer is planned. This can only be done if you have network cards from both PCs. Now they are standardly embedded in any motherboard, but if it is not possible to buy such in your computer, you can buy and install it yourself. Another attribute that will be needed to work - a network cable called patch cord. This is an analogue of the usual Internet cable, but on both sides it has connectors for connecting to network cards. If all this seems to you too complicated, it is enough to go to any computer service and ask for a twisted pair. Service workers themselves will select you what you need.

2
By connecting our computers with each other physically (using the cable), we proceed to setting up software. Namely, we create a homemade group of the local network. Let's start with setting up network cards. We go to the "Start", section "Connections", click "Display All Connections" and select the "Connection over LAN" icon. Right-click the context menu of this item. In it we find "properties" and pass to the "Internet TCP / IP Internet" option. There we press the "Properties" button again and fall into the edit field of network parameters. And here on one computer we score data: IP address 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and on the other: IP address 192.168.0.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. We save the changes made.

3
Now we create our workgroup from those two units of computer equipment that we have. Right-click on the "My Computer" icon, and then choose "Properties". Having passed into the "Computer Name" tab, activate the "Change" function and in the empty empty field set any name for our computer. By pressing the "OK" button and reboot, we added one computer to the working network. The same must be done with the second PC, but the name does it ask another. After it is rebooting, we get a local network of two connected computers.

4
It remains to configure our printer. By default, it should be already installed on one of the computers, which will become the main thing in the created local network. First we will work with him. Click "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Printer and Faxes". We find our printer there and clicking on it with the right mouse button, select the "properties" and "access". In the tab that the tab, put a tick in the "Sharing Printer" item. If you wish, you can change his name.

5
All the same is done on another computer, but only before the "Printers and Faxes" partition. In it, we call the option with the right mouse button and select "Install the printer". After that, we click the following combination - "Next" - "Network Printer" - "Printer Review". We find our printer from the main computer, and the driver will be installed automatically from the specified location. Our printer has become common to two points.

Having installed one printer at all, remember that even though it works for several devices, but still, you should not send him tasks at the same time. The printer will print everything in the order in which he is received by the commands, and may hang with thoughtless use. If you are inconvenient to use different wires and cables, then purchase a printer model equipped with a Wi-Fi element. True, for its installation you will need a completely different instruction.
