How to clean the virtual memory of the computer

The uninterrupted operation of the computer is provided by many factors, and the virtual memory plays an important role in this complex system. If a 32 or 64 MB of RAM is often used for the processor operation, then, of course, at high speed of this memory is not enough, and virtual memory comes to the rescue. Virtual memory helps copy applications that are not used for a long time, to a hard disk, having freed the required place for new data. Often when the system is running, we notice that productivity decreases, and this means that it is necessary to take measures to clean and increase the amount of virtual memory.

At the very first signs of slowing down the computer, you must make sure whether virtual memory is enough. As a rule, the message about this trouble occurs in the lower right corner of the screen.

The amount of memory can be increased by contacting the paging file, which is called "pagefile.sys" in the directory. In this case, you need to open the "System" folder in the Control Panel menu, the Advanced tab. In the "Speed" tab, select the "Parameters" column and the Advanced tab. In the "Virtual Memory" section you can see the amount of available memory at the moment. To enlarge it, you must click the "Change" button and in the window to put a new value. It is recommended to increase the size of virtual memory no more than twice (for example, from 2048 MB to 4096 MB). By selecting the "Size" option, set the original size and maximum size, click the "Set" button. By setting the size of the paging file on one of the hard drives, it must be turned off on the rest. You need to go in turn in each of the other partitions and put a mark on the option "Without paging file" and click the "Set" button.

From time to time, it is necessary to clean the virtual memory to save confidential data from the paging files. The system provides a special program, but it is usually inactive, so it is recommended to include.

To clean the virtual memory, you need to go to the "Start" menu, go to "Settings" and to "Control Panel". Opening the Administration tab, you should select the Local Security Policy folder, go to the Local Security Settings window. Right-click on the Count Point "Shutdown: Clearing the Virtual Memory File", select "Properties" and press the "Apply" button in the "OK" option, then click "OK".

Be prepared for the fact that the computer should restart two times, after which the virtual memory will be fully cleaned, paging files.

Clearing from unnecessary data system, you contribute to a clearer and rapid operation of the computer, without waiting for messages, which are not enough for virtual memory.
