This article will be discussed how to install Windows in UEFI mode on the GPT section, and also show how to switch the SATA controller mode from IDE in AHCI.
Initial preparation
- First, I want to report the need when installing Windows delete all partitions from the hard disk. Therefore, save all the data in advance.
- You will also need to create a UEFI bootable USB flash drive. Such a flash drive can be created using the WinsetupFromusB program.
- You can also use the official Microsoft tool called MediaCreationTool. With this program, you can create an image.
- It looks simple enough, it needs to choose the version of Windows, the bit, as well as the language and then will create a UEFI flash drive.
BIOS settings
- After creating such a flash drive, it should be connected to the computer and then go to the BIOS.
- After entering the BIOS, you open Bios Features and go down here.
- Select the System in the Security Option item.
- Select Oter OS in OS Type.
- select Always in CSM Support item.
- Select UEFI ONLY in Boot Mode Selection.
- Select UEFI ONLY in Storage Boot Option Control.
- Select the UEFI OPROM in the Other PCI Device Rom Priority item.
- Select Disabled in Lan Pxe Boot Option Rom.
- Next, save the BIOS settings in the Save & Exit tab by clicking the Save & Exit Setup option.
Selecting the loading flash drive
- After re-starting the computer, press the F12 key to select the device from which it will be loaded.
- A window appears in which you will need to select the boot flash drive connected to the computer from the available Windows. It supports the installation of UEFI.
- With the right BIOS settings in this window you can choose a flash drive.
- Then press the ENTER key and setting the installation.
- In the window where you need to select a section to install, you will need to delete all sections and then create them again.
- In this case, an automatic conversion from MBR in GPT will occur, then continue the installation of Windows by selecting the installation site of the system.
As a result, we learned the installation of the operating system through the UEFI BIOS using the boot flash drive.
