When was the first exit to open space?

On March 18, 1965, Alexei Leonov was committed to open space. From the side of the ship "Voskhod-2" and in the Space "Berkut" Leonov first conquered the "open space". By the way, due to the difference in pressure, the skatewill swelled very strongly and prevented Leonov to back on board the ship. Several unsuccessful attempts have been made to back on board. The reserve of oxygen in the scaffle was calculated only for 20 minutes. Leonov dropped the pressure in the Spacek before the emergency, which led to a decrease in the skateman. In addition, contrary to the instructions, Leonov had to be squeezed into the gateway forward head.

Preparation and outdoor space

Preparation for the flight was carried out very carefully. All the actions of Leonov were worked out, as well as all emergency situations that could happen with an astronaut when trying to enter outdoor space, still on a cosmodrome, however, it did not help completely avoid freelance situations.
From the Baikonur cosmodrome, at 10 am Moscow time, on March 18, 1965, the ship "Sunrise -2" successfully started. After lifting in orbit, the crew began to prepare for the release of Alexey Leonov in space.
The total time of the first exit to space was 23 minutes, 12 of whom Leonov spent in open space in Skafandra. Following what was concluded that a person is able to perform work in open space.

Despite the assurances of American astronauts, Soviet cosmonauts have made an exit to open space by 2.5 months earlier than the Americans. Edward White entered the open space on June 3, 1965. And the duration of his stay was only 22 minutes.
This step allowed Soviet scientists to improve the Spacks, which ultimately increased the duration of a person in open space. And for science it was a huge step to install new equipment, launch of satellites and a lot.
