How to make stencil

Screen painting is a popular and simple way to decorate a wide variety of surfaces. The latter includes walls, windows, interior items, clothing, dishes, furniture and even nails. Before you begin to decorate the selected product, you must prepare the stencil itself - a template for applying a motive. Of course, you can purchase a finished stencil, but much more interesting will be the creation of your own, individual layout.

1
Making a stencil - preparation of material for work

Before you begin creating your little masterpiece, prepare the necessary materials for work:

  • Paper.
  • Pencil, marker.
  • Scotch (ordinary or greasy).
  • Scissors.
  • Stationery knife.
  • Material for a stencil (transparent base) - film, plastic folder, X-rays, files.

The alternative base of the stencil can serve a dense, but not too fat cardboard, as well as parchment or tracing. If you use a paper opaque base to prepare a template, you also need to be stockpiled paper. After making a layout, it should be divided. Otherwise, in the process of work under the influence of paints, it will deteriorate and will be unsuitable for further use.

2
Manufacturing of the stencil - stages of work

  • First of all, we are determined with the motive of the stencil. Depending on your fantasy and artistic talents, you can find a finished motive (for example, download from the Internet and print it) or perform your own sketch. To do this, take a paper sheet prepared earlier and apply the desired image using a pencil. Do not be discouraged if the picture had to download. Add Individuality The plot will help combine several finished fragments.
  • So, in front of you image on paper. This sheet is placing a transparent sheet-foundation of your future stencil.
  • Fix the film, plastic or tracing with painting or stationery tape.
  • Take a marker and carefully duplicate the outline and other lines of your motive on the selected foundation.
  • Next, you work with the base of the stencil. Take a stationery knife (or blade) and cut through them all the previously drawn motif elements. If there is no knife, you can use scissors, but their ends should be sharp, without roundings.
  • The stencil-template is ready.

In cases where copy paper is required, the sequence of actions is as follows:

  • On a flat surface lay a sheet of cardboard (or other opaque material).
  • On top of it we have a copy paper.
  • The next layer is your sketch.
  • Lock the design (for example, using scotch).
  • Pencil again spend, slightly pressing, on all lines of the shown motive.
  • When the drawing duplication is completed, you will see a similar sketch on the cardboard.
  • Take a stationery knife, blade or scissors with sharp ends and cut it.
  • If multiple use of the template is planned - "Protect" it with lamination.

3
Creating bulk drawings using a stencil

Uncomplicated template manufacturing techniques allow you to create not only flat, but also volumetric stories.

  • Prepare a stencil pattern.
  • The basis on which you plan to create a bulk drawing, apply a layer of aerosol glue.
  • Lock pattern.
  • Screw the stencil with acrylic plaster (the final thickness of the material application you determine yourself).
  • A sharp movement hit the template.
  • The texture image is ready.
