What to see in Crete

Village Loutro

In the west of the island there is a captivatory village of Loutro, which surrounds the villages of Sfakiaa and Aia Romels. Since there are no roads here, you can only get on foot or on a boat. Elunda village

The former once fishing village of Elund is located 7-10 kilometers from Ayos Nikolaos on the shore of Mirabeth. Now this is a terrific resort with the Lux status, which has become famous for its great hotels. The beaches are exceptionally clean, which confirms their annual obtaining blue flags of the European Union. Not far from Elund is Spinalong Island. Five centuries ago, it was equipped with venetians fortifications, in order to defend this side of Crete. For centuries, the fortress of Spinalong was indestructible and uncompressed. You can get to the island on a boat with Elund or from Ayos Nikolaos.

Village Anogiya

Pretty large sizes of the village of Anogy, and it is located 800 meters above sea level. The anogy was submitted during the Second World War, and local men were shot for the abduction of the German general. Also, one of the most famous musicians of Crete was born, a local legend - Nikos Xiluris. Every year festivals are held here, which is devoted to art and music. Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.

Knossos palace

The most popular and most visited tourist attractions are considered to be undoubtedly the Knos Palace. It is he who is considered a concentration of the Minoan civilization, which was at that time the most developed in the world.
